Rap Requiem - Tupac Shakur
Rap Requiem reflects on Tupac Shakur through the bold image of a newspaper front page, set inside a field of red. The page feels immediate and iconic, held in colour like a final public signal.
A blue Crips gang sign moves across the centre of the work, cutting through the headline and image. It brings tension, symbolism and the language of rivalry into the piece without turning it into spectacle.
This piece belongs to The Last Headline collection, reflecting on fame, conflict, public grief and the myths that gather around cultural figures after they are gone.
